"People love Cheshire and it shows, it's an easy place to get to and easy place to do business in"

Could you be an Ambassador for Cheshire? Find out here

Industrious by Nature

With a history of making the most from nature – be it dairy farming, salt mining, weaving silk or, more recently, refining oil – the people of Cheshire have been quietly going about their business as a county for over a thousand years.

We may be less vocal than our neighbours but in many ways that’s what makes Cheshire Cheshire.

With less clamour you’ll find the space to think here. And with all the benefits of a nationally central location, a well-educated population and beautiful scenery it might just be our quality of life that draws you here.

But ‘Industrious by Nature’ is how we describe ourselves because it reflects both sides of Cheshire. While we’re patently rural we’re also the largest exporter within the UK of metal products; you might also be surprised to find that Bentley and Vauxhall cars are manufactured in Cheshire and that the National Nuclear Laboratory is in Warrington.

These and more surprises is what this site is all about, uncovering why Cheshire might be right for you. So please choose a question from the areas covered below as your first step to exploring our county.

"The joy of living in Cheshire is that you can live amongst some of the loveliest countryside in Britain whilst having easy access to Manchester and Liverpool and indeed the rest of the country thanks to our outstanding communication links by road, rail and air."

What is Cheshire really like as a place to live?

7th April 2012

Categories: Live

It isn’t all footballers’ wives and Hollyoaks stars – though they do live here too. And you can understand why when you discover that chic extends in to even the smallest villages in Cheshire.

We pride ourselves on urban sophistication in a rural setting, we take what we need from our city neighbours and bring it home.

And with high performing schools, great commuter links and beautiful countryside you can understand why native Mancunians and Liverpudlians aspire to live in our county.

From the Peak District in the east to riverside dwellings on the Wirral, from classic thatched cottages to modern loft apartments by canals, Cheshire really does have a home for everyone.

And downtime can be uptime in Cheshire with a wealth of attractions and events throughout the year from Chester Zoo to Creamfields, sporting quality from Warrington Wolves to Chester races and culture brimming from Tatton Park’s Biennial to Macclesfield’s Barnaby Festival; Cheshire is a happening place to live.
